Nowadays, tastes all become the same, as the words we use and the food we eat is less and less authentic.
 
There is a big danger waiting for retailers who are incapable of making a difference with authentic ideas. This is especially the case with food retail.
 
Customers always demand what’s new. However, it is not possible to make a difference by producing ice cream and apparel similar to products in foreign countries.
 
“We have a country rich in bio-diversity and culture,” Özerkan suggests, and he shares the experiences of Metro’s implementations which will be inspiring for all retailers to make a difference.

Kubilay Özerkan completed his undergraduate studies at Marmara University, Department of Business Administration. Later he received his master’s degree in Political Science and International Relations at Boğaziçi University. Taking various positions at Metro Group between 1997-2008, Özerkan then worked as the Managing Director for Turkey at Real Hypermarkets between 2008-2011. Özerkan has been the Managing Director at Metro Cash & Carry Turkey since 2011.

Following the vision of Metro Cash & Carry, Özerkan carried out many projects on sustainable agriculture, fishing and livestock and he played a key role in the sales of local products in Turkey and in other countries in which Metro operates. Özerkan works with the goal of helping the customer’s to differentiate while contributing to local manufacturers’ economic and social development.
